As Above, So Below expresses the principle of correspondence; patterns repeat across different scales of reality, and internal posture mirrors external action — what is true at one scale is true at all scales.
The Lenses
- Intrinsic (Personal):The mental faculty that recognizes patterns at one scale as indicators of patterns at another.
- Extrinsic (Interpersonal):The relational understanding that small behaviors compound into character, and character compounds into culture.
- Integrative (Systemic):Systems reflect the patterns of the individuals within them; change the micro to change the macro.
The ARAA Sequence
Awareness — When to Use This Symbol
When you are treating small compromises as inconsequential, or large failures as unconnected to small habits.
Reflection — Diagnostic Questions
- What pattern at the small scale is this?
- What does it predict at the large scale?
- What correspondence am I ignoring?
Analysis — Failure Modes
- Overuse (Deterministic Collapse):seeing every small action as cosmically significant, producing paralysis through hyperconsciousness.
- Underuse (Disconnection):treating scales as independent, allowing small corruptions to accumulate without systemic awareness.
Action — Use It Now
Identify one small habit or compromise; trace its pattern forward to its systemic implication.
